Horse Photography Workshop & Contest February 25, 2011

The Silver Spurs Club is sponsoring a Horse Photography class, Thursday, March 3, 2011. The class size is limited,so please call the office to sign up as soon as possible. The class will be held at BCC, Building B room 127 at 7:00pm.  For more information, please call Silver Spurs club leader, Marie Yurgel at (910) 655-8990.

Learn more about how you can participate in the State 4-H Equine Artistic Expressions Contest in the Horse Photography Division.  Entries are due to the Brunswick Couunty 4-H office by April 25th.


Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program- Top Winners Receive $10,000 February 22, 2011

Every year, Kohl’s recognizes and rewards young volunteers (ages 6-18) across the country for their amazing contributions to their communities. This year we are recognizing more than 2,100 kids with more than $415,000 in scholarships and prizes. Nominations are accepted from now until March 15th!


Raise turkeys for the NC State Fair! February 20, 2011

The 4-H Youth Market Turkey Program begins in June when youth receive day-old turkey poults from NCSU’s poultry facility.  For 5 months, each youth is responsible for raising 1 to 4 poults.  In October, they enter their best turkey.  On the 1st Friday of the NC State Fair each participant is placed in a class with 15 or less competitors.  Youth show their bird & answers judges’ questions.  The overall weight of the turkey, the muscling in the breast & legs, and how well each youth has taken care of their bird are all evaluated. Ribbons & placement money are awarded.  1st place winners in each class compete in an overall class for grand champion.
