Sew for the Make It With Wool State Competition August 4, 2010

It’s time to start sewing for the fall and join others in competition for the Make it With Wool state contest. Take a chance to learn more about sheep and promote the beauty and versatility of wool with fabrics and yarns. Find your own personal creativity in sewing, knitting, crocheting, spinning and weaving. Join youth from all across the state on September 11th at the Cabarrus County Fairgrounds to showcase your wool sewing projects. Youth and adults of all ages can participate. The age division categories are as follows: pre-teens, age 12 and under; juniors, ages 13-16; seniors, ages 17-24; adults, age 25 and older. All entries and the $10 entry fee must be submitted by August 21st to MIWW State Director, Jean Thomas, 3019 McLaughlin Lane, Charlotte, NC 28269. Samples of your fabric should be sent for testing ASAP. Come by the Brunswick County 4-H office and pick out some wool fabric. On August 18th and 25th the training center room will be available from 9:00-4:30pm. Bring a parent or supervising adult and join others as they sew their projects. The 4-H office will supply the wool and the use of the sewing machines and sergers and you’ll bring the rest. Take advantage of this opportunity to sew with others and join in on the fun. Please call the 4-H office (910) 253-2610 to sign up no later than August 16th, so that you can be assured of space and a sewing machine. A parent or responsible adult must remain with each youth the entire time they are sewing.
