Brunswick County Commissioners proclaim this week as Brunswick County 4-H Week.    If you would like to attend this meeting please meet at the 4-H Office at 6:30 for the 7:00PM Commissioners Meeting.  Sign up by October 1.

“Walk for the Clover” – Come help us host, as County Employees walk the Brunswick County Government Complex Fitness trail from 11:00AM 3:00PM and earn a 4-H cup.  Also, we are baking and selling home-made 4-H Dog Treats.   Come and help us in the kitchen at 9:00AM.  Call the office to sign up by October 1.

“Reading Makes the Best Better“4-H’ers will take time to read to local kindergarten classes.   4-H’ers need to sign up in advance and be at the 4-H office at 8:30AM.    Plans are for the Readers to read from 9:00am until 11:00am, we will give them a quick lunch and they can return to their own classes.  They will be transported to Bolivia Elementary School to read to the kindergarteners.   Arrangements may be made at other schools, depending on how many volunteers are available in the different sections of the county. 

Readers must be 12 or older.  Call to sign up before October 1.

“Dancing and a Movie in the Garden” To top off the celebration week, we are planning on Dance Lessons in the Garden followed by a movie.  Events start at 4PM and end at 8PM.  Make your reservations for Family Night by calling the office by October 1.  We will start with shagging lessons with Charlie Spencer and learn line dancing with Leslie.  After dancing, we will have pizza, and then enjoy the Movie with popcorn.  The evening will cost $2.00 per person or $5.00 for the whole family.  Movie choices are “Remember the Titans”, “Finding Nemo”, “Homeward Bound” or “Happy Feet”.  Vote for your movie choice by when making reservations.

Also to help celebrate National 4-H Week…

– Enter the “Color Me Green” 4-H Outline Drawing Contest.  Check out our website for an application.





– Send us your favorite 4-H story or photo

– Write a few sentences or even paragraphs entitled “What 4-H means to me” 


Stories, photos, & entries will run in the newspapers during National 4-H Week


All entries must be submitted to the Brunswick County 4-H office by October 1st. 

The “Color Me Green” contest has district and state level awards, and the top three picked story or writing will receive 4-H bucks to use at future 4-H events.  1st place-$15, 2nd place-$10, and 3rd place-$5

For the adults, “If you were a 4-H member as a kid or want to write about your volunteer experiences, please feel free to submit entries for the newspaper on “What 4-H means to me” or send us your favorite 4-H story or photo.
