Volunteers Needed August 27, 2008

We need your help to “Make the Best Better.” 

Volunteer training will be held on October 1 from 6pm-8pm and November 13th from 6pm-8pm in the Cooperative Extension Training Center, Building N at the Brunswick County Complex.  Supper will be served at both sessions.

Volunteer Applications must be submitted prior to training, so please submit your application to myself, Leslie Wilson, no later than September 12.  The volunteer application form is available online, or we will be glad to mail one to you.  910.253.2610

 

4-H Volunteers Make a World of Difference

Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Camp August 25, 2008

As one of five 4-H Camps & Centers in North Carolina, the Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Educational Center serves over 5,000 North Carolina youth each year, through both summer camps and school programs. Youth gain valuable knowledge and understanding through experiential education, or “hands-on learning”. This summer, ten Brunswick County youth traveled nearly five hours to the week long camp in Reidsville, North Carolina.  Young people ate, slept, grew, and learned together, having a blast the entire time.  They made new friends, shared stories and experiences while for many it was their first time away from home.  Some of the numerous group activities included canoeing, archery, crafts, and rock wall climbing. 

 

This year’s participants were: D’Myia G, Zach G, Cory H, Cary H, Cody H, Quincy R, Makayla R, Nick W, Kaitlyn W, and Josh W.
